Once again I find myself spreading my wings and going to see a new artist to me, unlike my previously documented visit to see James Blunt, with The Feeling I had not real opinion at all, if they walked up to me in the street I would not know them, if you played their CD I would have not idea who it was, in fact I was a totally blank canvas as far as they were concerned, this is not a bad thing as at least I had no preconcieved notions.
My good friend Katherine who had co erced me into going to this gig had kindly lent me their CD but to be honest I never bothered to put it on, and actually I have a supsicion my mate Jackie had already given me this CD a year or so ago and I had never put it on then either. On the day I nearly decided not to bother but when work got decidedly bad going anywhere seemed a good option so I set off nice and early as no matter who the artist I have this inbuilt queueing mechanism. When I arrived there were a few die hard fans there and I always love to meet these as they are so interesting and it makes me realise that the antics myself and my mates get up to following a certain Canadian person all over the world are not totally mad but I will admit we maybe do take the prize for the number of people who are prepared to make fools of themsleves.
The wait supplied us with a fantastic front spot, great for photos and to get the real atmosphere,I was pleased that their fans got the best spot though as this seems only fair. The support band were OK not my cup of tea but that is just a personal thing, then to the main band, I really do not know how to describe the whole show, if I say it was the best gig I had been to in ages it would be true maybe it was fresh to me and therefore it is always more exciting, but I could not really fault it,a night of great music and fun with a bunch of guys who just really looked like they were enjoying themselves. It was over way to soon and of course we all wanted more , it was then to the make and break bit with a band as far as I am concerned... meeting them.. to me its a test of how I percieve a band as to how they treat fans who take the time to wait to meet them after the gig... dont get me wrong I do not need to do this after every gig but the first one I need to make a judgement, well I can confirm that these guys were the nicest you could meet... friendly appreciative of their fans and not a bit up themselves which is truly my pet hate, of course they would be silly to be rude to their fans but trust me there are people out there who are.So I think I can safely say I am pretty pleased I decided to make the trip on that cold rainy Monday night.... and the impact was such that in not too many hours I am off to see them again.
I am feeling pretty blessed with the great music I have discovered this year to suppliment the great music I already love
