Well this has been a pretty crazy weekend even by my standards, hot on the heels of Shepherds Bush gig was a great support slot with Paolo Nutini at The Engine Shed in Lincoln which is a great venue, arrived early for a bit of sunbathing and was lucky to have a chat with Paolo, what a lovely guy very shy but great sport as he agreed to an interview for WATPpromosquad Kyte Channel about touring with Will & gang, hopefully we will see this soon .Another great performance from the guys and the front row loved them and showed a great deal of interest which seems to be the trend now, people are beginning to realise or maybe they always did and I am just more in tune with people.
Paolo Nutini was faultless , this young man is an unbelievable performer and a photographers dream so no complaints on this nights main act as with The Script the previous night, how great is it when your favourite band supports bands you really love.
It was a mad dash after Lincoln for an early flight to Dublin and to see those lovely Script boys on their home town turf Croke Park in front of 80000 fans.. what an emotional day . Today was not for the faint hearted as it was queue from 10am and we were not first by any means, luckily the promised rain did not materialise and it was a hot and sunny day so not a big problem until it was time to go in and at this point Croke Park came into their own, in all honesty these people should not be in charge of a crowd of 5 let alone 80000 they had no idea what they were doing, we were let in we were sent out we were turned around the only thing we did not do was the bloody hokey cokey !!! at one point the people who arrived first were at the back of Queue, it was crazy and people began to loose patience, luck or queuing expertise meant we actually got to the front but it was tense times.
The venue itself was mind blowing and I cannot begin to imagine how emotional at time it was for Danny, Mark & Glen to come home to, the reception they received, a brilliant set and a very emotional Danny made it a brilliant start and I cannot praise these guys enough for how far they have come in the last year and remained totally grounded and a pleasure to meet., also to Ben who is a star to us even if he does not make official Script …
It was then on to the main show, now I have never been a boy band or man band fan so I am not going to lie and say I was full of excitement but as always I am happy to give all music a chance, you cannot give a true opinion if you have not seen an artist live, albums or video do not give you the real feel or measure of an artist. The stage and setting was mind boggling in its extravagance and the only thing I would say is there was so much that you actually missed some things. Now is the point were I should be saying I fell in love with Take That but again I will not lie , I will however recognise them for the brilliant performers they are and it was by far and away the best show of its type I have seen and I would be hard pressed to find fault other than maybe Mr Barlow should not dance but as its obvious he is well aware he cannot and is not afraid to have a go in front of 80000 people it would be harsh not be impressed by his guts and ability to be to laugh at himself. I am not about to rush off and buy 20 tickets to see Take That as there is only band who inspire that in me but I am going to see them again at Wembley as I know it will be a great night out.
My highlight of the weekend… well personally its always going to be Will & Co but
The Script I totally love and meeting Paolo was brilliant as he is just so damn nice, oh and pretty damn handsome too I might add.
The scariest moment… staying at Elissa’s overnight and on closing the door to the spare bedroom finding life size models of Take That .. made me jump I can tell you.. The kindest moment, Elissa’s mum leaving me tea and toast outside my room at 03:30 on Sat morning to make sure we had something to eat and drink.. Lis I need to adopt your Mum.
